On January 10, thirty-five Gardner Edgerton High School drama students attended the annual Kansas State Thespian Conference in Wichita.
GEHS Thespians, along with more than 250 students from across the state, competed in individual events with only 38 Superior Ratings being awarded. Gardner Edgerton Kevin Medlin and Christian Herndon received a Superior Rating for their acting monologues and Cooper McGuire and Ali Haag received a Superior Rating for their duet musical theatre performance.
The most anticipated competition at the conference is the State Improv Competition. Of the 55 teams from across the state competing, the GEHS Improv Team “Room For IMPROVment” consisting of Kevin Medlin, Cooper McGuire, Noah Powell, Justin Scheck and Christian Herndon, took second place in the competition.
“This year’s conference was a huge success with twice as many students attending this year than last year,” said Jeff Lady, GEHS theater director. “Each and every student represented our school and district in outstanding manner. Our kids are a class act!”
