The city of Gardner is inviting citizens to a forum to gather input about the city’s 2016 budget. The citizen forum will run from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 22 in council chambers at city hall.
Beginning with the creation of the 2014 budget, city officials have used the priority-based budgeting, also known as “budgeting for outcomes”, which aligns resources to achieve the governing body’s strategic goals. The purpose of the forum is to facilitate a deeper understanding of this practice while ascertaining citizens’ priorities to assist the city council and mayor and city staff in establishing goals for the 2016 budget.
According to the city’s website, strong communities are the result of engaged citizens working in concert with their elected officials and staff. Citizen participation is strongly encouraged.
