A marketer of tractor machinery and equipment last night announced it will open a distribution center in Edgerton.
Kubota Tractor will open a 450,000 square-foot warehouse at Logistics Park-Kansas City. Kubota will be a tenant in a portion of a 765,000-square-foot building on the southeast corner of 191st Street and Waverly Road.
The building is currently under construction.
“It has walls up,” Beth Linn, city administrator, said.
It is set to open in the third quarter, or fall, of 2015.
Kubota plans to hire approximately 75 employees during its first year.
Masato Yoshikawa, president and CEO of Kubota Tractor Corporation, said with its central location, the new parts distribution center will help streamline Kubota’s operations and improve parts delivery times.
“We look forward to commencing our parts operation in Edgerton, and we’re proud to be contributing to the local economy,” said Yoshikawa.
Edgerton Mayor Don Roberts said Edgerton is thrilled to welcome Kubota.
“Edgerton’s central location and the benefits of locating to Logistics Park-Kansas City continues to prove ideal for companies like Kubota who want to more efficiently connect the supply chain,” Roberts said.
Kansas Secretary of Commerce Pat George said Kubota’s decision to locate a warehouse in Edgerton is good news for Kansas’ growing economy.
“Kansas’ excellent business environment, workforce and infrastructure continue to support the efforts of companies to invest and create jobs,” George said in a press release.
Kubota is the fourth company to locate a warehouse or distribution center in Logistics Park-Kansas City. Last week, Flexsteel announced it would locate in Edgerton. Smart Warehousing and Demdaco are also LPKC distribution center tenants, and DeLong Grain Company also houses a grain facility in the logistics park.
NorthPoint Development is grading land for a speculation 650,000-square-foot warehouse just east of the Kubota building.
Kubota Tractor Corporation is based in Torrance, Calif. The company markets and distributes Kubota-engineered and manufactured machinery and equipment, including a complete line of tractors, commercial turf products, utility-class construction equipment and consumer lawn and garden equipment.
