A Gardner man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter – driving under the influence — following a deadly accident Thanksgiving morning.
According to Olathe Police reports, Souksavanh C. Chamnongchith, 32 of Gardner, was traveling west on 159th Street in Olathe, when his vehicle struck a vehicle traveling northbound on U.S. 56 Highway.
The wreck killed Idir Lounes, 31, who was returning home from a shift at the Coleman Warehouse in Gardner.
Chamnongchith is no stranger to the Johnson County court system. He was convicted of battery in 2004 and served time for a burglary of a dwelling and theft conviction in 1998.
As a condition of bond, he was required to surrender his passport.
Lounes leaves behind two daughters and a pregnant wife.
