Louise Snavely, 74, of Gardner, KS, passed away November 10, 2014 at Olathe Hospice House.
Louise was born February 25, 1940 in Homewood, Kan. to Mabel Charlotte (Davis) and Clare Wesley Brown. She was a 1957 graduate of Silver Lake High School and attended Washburn University. Louise married Ralph P. Snavely on August 18, 1957 in Silver Lake. They moved to Gardner in 1957.
Louise was a bookkeeper and receptionist for Contel and United Company in the Gardner Office. She also worked for Sprint in Leawood from 1970 – 1998 before retiring. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gardner and the Docey Dandies Square Dancing Club. Louise served as the treasurer of Gardner Cemetery Association.
She enjoyed traveling with her sister and her friends. Louise was an active grandma, attending all her grandchildren’s activities. She was a talented seamstress, making unique items for family members and she had a special talent for repairing “needling” her grandchildren’s stuffed animals. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ralph in 2007, daughter Brenda Louise Grimes, and two twin grandsons. Louise is survived by her daughters Lesa Soetaert of Gardner and Karla Gravenstein and Randy of Olathe; son Scott Snavely and Jacque of Arkansas City, Kan.; sister Dorothy Frey and Dale of Silver Lake, Kan.; brother Charles Brown and Karen of Meriden, Kan., eight grandchildren; and best friend and companion Allen Oberhelman of Edgerton.
A Celebration of Life will begin at 12 noon, Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, Kan.Louise Snavely 913-856-7111. Inurnment at Gardner Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am before the celebration at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be given to Olathe Hospice House or the Alzheimer’s Association, in honor of her mom.
