The Pioneer Ridge Middle School eighth grade girls varsity basketball team jumped to a 19-12 first half lead and never looked back en route to a 39-13 season opening win at cross town rival Trail Ridge Middle School last week.
The PRMS Jags jumped out to a quick 6-2 lead and added 13, second quarter points. Six different players contributed in the scoring.
“We did a nice job of finding the open player and had balanced scoring,” said Coach Jeff Davidson.
The Jags closed out the win with a 20-5, second half run. The Jag defense had six different players record at least two steals apiece.
Jadon Sprague led the way with 11 points. Katie Whittley had six. Taylor Fergola, Gabby Schultz had four points. Hannah Orrison had three points, Kelby Wilson had two, and Sydney Wetherington, one point.
Wilson grabbed five rebounds and Emma Prothe grabbed four. Schultz had four steals.
