Compiling 319 total yards of offense, the Trail Ridge Middle School eighth grade varsity football team wrapped up a perfect 7-0 season with a 40-12 win at Louisburg Middle School last week.
Jacob Hunsperger led the way with 137 rushing yards and a 63-yard touchdown run. Matt Ebenstein added touchdown runs and had 124 yards on eight totes. Payton Vance had 23 yards and a touchdown, and Jonah May had 35 yards on just three carries.
Husky offensive lineman Kelvin Woodson, Vance, Luke Jennings, Logan Anderson, Vince Soudaray and Thomas O’Conner provided excellent up-front blocking.
Meanwhile, the defense was anchored by Dakota Jackson and Hunsperger with seven tackles apiece. Vance and Drake Mills had six tackles and Jennings, five.
“This group of young men played outstanding football and were leaders in the school,” said Coach Brian Essex. “I was really proud of their effort.”
