Despite taking an early 14-0 lead, the Spring Hill High School Bronco varsity football dropped a 32-14 Frontier League home decision to Eudora High School last Friday night.
Early on, Spring Hill took a 14-0 first quarter lead thanks to a 3-yard touchdown run by quarterback Ryker Johnson, and a 33-yard touchdown pass from Johnson to Jordan Henning.
But the Eudora Cards came back, when EHS’ Austin Downing found the end zone on a 38-yard touchdown run. That brought the score to 14-7, still in SHHS’ favor.
Eudora tied the game at 14-14 on a 41-yard touchdown run by Seth Griffith and went up 20-14 at halftime on a 66-yard gallop to paydirt by EHS junior Chris Rivers.
Eudora continued its scoring blitz with a 7-yard run by Griffith to open the second-half. A final Eudora score came on a 58-yard run by Austin Downing.
Despite the lost, Spring Hill accumulated 256 yards of offense. On the ground, Brad Smith had 81 yards on 15 carries, while Charles Elam collected 47 yards on four totes. Johnson added 25 yards on 9 carries and one touchdown.
Through the air, Johnson completed seven passes for 99 yards and one touchdown strike to Henning for 55 yards.
