A Gardner man has earned 2014 New Horizon Honorable Mention for his master’s graduate report.
Mitchel Loring, a 2014 Kansas State University master’s graduate in regional planning from Gardner, looked at the application of social media-based methodology to Washington Square results in the development of solutions for addressing Kansas City’s space dilemmas and the city’s goals for the area. Loring’s report was titled “Capturing the Buzz: Social Media as a Design Informant for Urban Civic Spaces.” The award is given by the Kansas American Planning Association. Loring received his award at the association’s conference in Wichita in early October.
