Spring Hill High School (SHHS) Homecoming is this week. The Olympic-style theme for Homecoming is “Broncos Go for Gold!”
The high school has named its fall homecomeing candidates. They include Abby Bell and Ali Ghaisarnia, who were selected by their fellow student athletes. Other Homecoming king candidates are Caleb Volkman, Michael Londene and Tyus Heinrich. The additional queen candidates are Amber McClurg, Katy Crooks and Lilly Smith.
The Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned during halftime at the varsity football game on Friday, Sept. 19 against Ottawa High School.  The Homecoming Dance will take place at SHHS on the tennis courts from 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Caleb Volkman has played football for four years and baseball for three years.  He is a three-year varsity wrestler and a three-year member of the Wrestling Guts Club.  He has also been a member of Natural Helpers and is involved with LINKS and the Volunteer Club.  Caleb plans to attend Kansas State University to major in veterinary science/pre-veterinary medicine.
Amber McClurg has been a member of the Bronco Elite Dance Team for four years and currently serves as a team captain.  She has been a boys’ soccer manager for two years and a member of Student Publications for two years.  Amber was selected into Natural Helpers her junior year and is currently a member of Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD).  Amber is currently undecided about her future plans but is considering a career in physical therapy.
Michael Londene has played baseball for four years and football for four years.  He was a member of Natural Helpers for one year and has been involved with Volunteer Club for two years.  He has been an honor roll student for four years.  Michael will attend Tulsa Community College where he will pursue a degree in air traffic control.
Katy Crooks has played volleyball for four years and basketball for one year.  She was involved in Natural Helpers for one year, Student Council for one year and LINKS for one year.  She has been a member of National Honor Society for two years and Volunteer Club for two years.  Katy has been a SHIBT hostess for three years and has been on the Principal’s Honor Roll for four years.  Katy plans to attend Kansas State University and major in gerontology.
Ali Ghaisarnia has played soccer for four years and currently serves as a team captain.  He played basketball for one year and golf for one year.  He was involved in Volunteer Club for one year and LINKS for two years.  Ali has been a member of National Honor Society for two years and has been on the Principal’s Honor Roll for three years.  Ali is currently undecided about his future plans but will attend Johnson County Community College with the intent of transferring to the University of Kansas to complete his studies.
Abby Bell has been a member of the volleyball team for three years and has participated in cross country for two years.  She participated in track for one year and basketball for one year.  She has been on the honor roll for three years. Abby is a member of Student Council and Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) and is involved in Volunteer Club.  Abby plans to attend Kansas State University to study criminology and psychology.
Tyus Heinrich has played basketball for four years and football for four years.  He was involved with track for one year.  He has been involved with Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) for four years and a member of National Honor Society for two years.  Tyus will be participating in the upcoming school musical this year.  He was on the Principal’s Honor Roll for one year and the Purple & Gold Honor Roll for two years.  Tyus is undecided about his future goals but plans to attend a state university locally.
Lilly Smith was a member of the regional champion golf team her freshman year and has participated in cross country for three years.  She has been a member of the track team for four years, having qualified for state her junior year.  She has played basketball for three years and was a tri-county honorable mention her junior year.
She was Class President for three years and is currently serving as Student Council President.  She has been a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) for four years and a member of Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) for four years, currently serving as Vice President.
Lilly is a member of National Honor Society and has been involved in LINKS and Natural Helpers.  She has been on the Principal’s Honor Roll for three years.
Lilly plans to attend Kansas State University to major in business management and entrepreneurship.
