First place finishes by Dylan Brenneman and Macy Burke helped the Spring Hill High School cross country teams to second place finishes at the Ottawa Triangular last week.
“The teams competed very well on likely what is the hilliest course in Kansas,” Coach Brent Smitheran said. “Cool temperatures contributed to quick times.”
For the boys, Brenneman took the individual title in a 5k time of 17:45 minutes. Right behind came Michael Hanson in a fifth place 5k time of 20:09. Noah Nemer took ninth in 20:52; Michael Herman took 10th in 20:59. Noah Morse placed 14th in 21:14. Sam Fenton was 18th with a time of 22:25. Clayton Hatfield was 21st in 22:52, and Josh Belleride was 26th in 25:03.
SHHS girls took the top two slots in the 4K. Burke finished first with a time of 17:47. Lilly Smith took second in 18:09. Taylor Mangels took 10th with a time of 21:10. Makayla Kosberg was 12th in 21:14. Andi Oursler was 18th in 23:42. Sara Buyanovsky was 20th in 23:59, and Abi Bell was 24th in 26:56.
