Public officials gathered Sept. 4 – not to make any decisions – but to network and keep abreast of what other public entities are doing.
Elected officials, including mayors, council and school board members shared a meal and conversations at the Gardner Edgerton USD 231 district office building. Both Edgerton and Gardner Mayors, Don Roberts and Chris Morrow, attended; as did USD 231 board members, two Gardner city council members – Heath Freeman and Tory Roberts, representatives from the county and from Johnson County Rural Water District No. 7. Approximately 20 people attended the meeting.
The city of Edgerton hosted a similar event early in the summer, and officials from the Gardner-Edgerton area decided to continue holding networking opportunities occasionally.
“It’s a periodic gathering,” USD 231 Board of Education President Rob Shippy said. “The idea was we were going to do this once per quarter.”
USD 231 Superintendent Pam Stranathan and the school district hosted the Sept. 4 event.
