After nearly a month of practice, the Spring Hill High School Lady Broncos volleyball team began the season at a home meet last weekend.

In bracket play, the Broncos beat De Soto High School in the first game, 25-23, but dropped the next two to DeSoto, 18-25 and 9-25.
In the final match, Spring Hill lost to Eudora in the first game, 20-25; beat the Cardinals in the second, 25-17; and lost the final, 24-26.
SHHS senior Shelby Baker, an outside hitter, led the way with 27 kills, while SHHS senior Mandi Taylor had 18 kills.
“We have a very competitive league and didn’t play consistent enough today to compete,” said Coach Alicia Von Stein. “We had some players step up for us and did some good things, but we need to pass better and be more consistent to win the close matches.”
Next action comes Sept. 13 in the Lansing tournament.
