Sheryl L. Hooper, 69, of Olathe, Kan., passed away Sept. 8, 2014 at her home in Avonlea Cottages of Olathe.
Sheryl was born May 29, 1945 in Coquille, Ore. She was raised by Mary R. (Scott) Rogers and grew up in Oklahoma. Sheryl attended Spring Hill (Kan.) High School. Sheryl married Clyde B. Hooper on June 3, 1982 in Olathe. They lived in Gardner, Kan. After Clyde passed, she moved to Linn Valley Lakes and back to Olathe in 2011. She was a block mother and a life guard in Spring Hill and taught swimming lessons with the Kansas School for the Deaf. She loved making crafts and growing flowers. Sheryl was an avid University of Oklahoma Sooners Fan. She loved spending time with her family and will be dearly missed by family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde, her parents, daughter Trudie Hutchinson and sister Mona Brune. Sheryl is survived by her children Todd and Brenda Wempe of Gardner, Tracie Michaels and Jeff Hollinger of Eudora, Kan., Trent and Cindy Wempe of Olathe, and Terie Wempe and Kevin Youngman of Spring Hill; sister Carol Aust of Louisburg, Kan.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and son-in-law Larry Hutchinson of Slater, Mo.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12 at Bruce Funeral Home, 712 S. Webster, Spring Hill, KS (913)592-2244.
A remembrance time will follow from noon to 12:30 p.m. Inurnment will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12 in Gardner Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Continua Hospice or Drexel, Mo., Veterinary Clinic. Condolences may be left at
