After three weeks of practice, Coach Anthony Orrick and his Spring Hill High School varsity football team will begin the season on the road at rival Paola on Sept. 5.
Orrick led the Broncos to their first playoff win in 20 years last season and has record numbers out for fall practices.
“We have several returners on the defensive side of the ball and expect good things from this group,” Orrick said. “We expect to improve on last year’s record and make a run in the playoffs.”
Offensively, the Broncos will follow the leadership of senior quarterback Ryker Johnson.
Other top returners include seniors offensive lineman Cristian Esparza, slot back Tyus Heinrich and wide receiver Charles Elam.
Paola graduated 16 senior football players last year, but will look for the senior leadership of Derek Weaver, Avery Boehm, and Jake Robison.
