Gardner-Edgerton’s special education department met or exceeded its targets in 20 different indicators related to educating children and youth with disabilities.
USD 231’s services received the highest rating possible from the Kansas Department of Education (KSDE).
The 20 targeted indicators include things like graduation and drop-out rates for special education students, math and reading proficiencies and social and emotional outcomes indicators.
Per the KSDE report card, also known as the Kansas Individuals with Disabilities Education Act State Performance Plan Public Report, the state targeted a graduation rate of 80 percent. According to current year data, the USD 231 graduation rate will be 94 percent. The drop-out rate is 2 percent.
In reading proficiency, the state targeted a rate of 68 percent, however the report card shows approximately 91 percent of USD 231 students are proficient in reading.
