Using balanced scoring, the Pioneer Ridge Middle School eighth grade girls track team turned back Wheatridge Middle School 79-50 in a home duel last week.
The PRMS Jags’ 400-meter relay squad remained undefeated posting a time of 57 seconds. The foursome of Lilly Clark, Kayla Haff, Gracie Moorehouse and Cierra Swait took the gold medal.
Clark also won the 100-meter hurdles in 19.93 seconds and later teamed with Moorehouse, Haff and Haylei Bell to win the 800-meter relay.
Several other team members scored medals, including Swait in the long jump and Kara McCormick in the shot put. Their performances earned them gold medals.
Silver medals went to Moorehouse in the 100-meter dash, Bell  in the mile run and in 800-meter run. Swait took second in the 200-meter dash posting a time of 29.8 seconds. Justice Stafos brought home silver in the high jump as did Kaitlin Trotter in the discuss.
Six PRMS athletes brought home bronze. The included Jayme Morris in the two-mile run, Logan Morgan in the 100-meter hurdles, Taylor Carpenter in the 100-meter dash, Reece Elliot in the 800-meter run, Nemecheck in the high jump, and Samantha Hicks in discus.
“I was proud of our kids stepping up when the team needed them,” said coach Jeff Davidson. “We had 23 athletes place in the 16 events.”
