The Prairie Star 4-H monthly meeting was held on April 14, 2014 at the Johnson County Fairgrounds. The meeting was called to order by Lauren Molenda in the absence of President Anthony Deters.
Pledges were led by Kinsey McCormick and Elly VanRheen. Song leaders, Charli McGill and Elly VanRheen led us in a song.
Roll call was “who is your favorite team” with 16 members present. Brady Russell told the club a joke.
Marlene Gabriel-Muellner introduced or guests, Alyssa and Lyler Hall.
Jesse Molenda, treasurer, stated we have a balance of $1109.25. Sienna Muellner gave the reporter’s report and Tucker Davis asked for photos for the Historian Book.
Jeanette Davis gave the Community Leader report reminding members the add/drop form for project enrollment is due by May 1. She, also, gave the club information on Shotgun Shooting Sports and the KS 4-H Sports Fishing Tournament. She asked members to check Clover Clips about upcoming photography workshops and Livestock Spring Shows.
Bert Molenda spoke about the Community Garden and passed around a sign-up sheet for all those interested in volunteering at the garden.
Cole Davis gave an informational project talk on composting and Charli McGill’s project talk was on creating rainbow loom bracelets.
Our next meeting is at 7 p.m., May 12 at the fairgrounds.
