The Mustangs ran well at Paola last week.
Using balanced scoring, the Wheatridge Middle School Mustang track teams turned in impressive performances at the Paola Invitational last week.
The eighth grade girls finished first in the team standings posting a new school record medley relay time.
The foursome of Alisha Smart, Roshea Daniels, Maddie Linden and Larissa Weidler clocked a new school record time of 2 minutes and 3.4 seconds.
Other gold medals went to Linden in the 200 meters and high jump; Bella Hinch in the 1600 meters; Bridgett Espino in the 400 meters; Larissa Weidler in 800 meters and 3200 meters, and the 800-meter relay team.
Equally impressive were the eighth grade boys who took first in their division with a balanced scoring attack.
First place finishers were Tom Fabing in the pole vault and 1600, Dante Fox in the 400 meters, Andrew Boline in the 3200 and the 400 relay team.
The seventh grade boys team dominated their division winning by 44 points.
First place finishes went to Peyton Vance in the discus, Trenton Bilhimer in the pole vault, Carson Miller in the long jump, Jacob Hunsperger in the 100- and 200-meters, Alec Waterman in the 400, Tim Smart in the 800 and 1600 and the 400 relay team.
The seventh grade girls finished second in the standings. First place finishes went to Kennedy Cornstock in the pole vault, Skyler Bartels in the 800, Ashlyn Anderson in the 1600 and the 400, 800 and sprint medley relay teams.
