James R. Kincaide, 90, of Gardner, Kan., passed away April 13, 2014 at Olathe Medical Center.
James was born Feb. 16, 1924 in Bartlesville, Okla. to Vickie Viola Dunnivent and James Lilo Kincaide. He attended Paola High School.
James married Naoma M. Ellis on Oct. 6, 1944 in Reno, Nev.
James served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946 during World War II. After the war he continued flying as a private pilot. He was a machinist for Delco Battery in Olathe for 31 years, retiring in 1987.
James was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, UAW Local No. 1021, the Gardner Masonic Lodge, and the Gardner Lions Club. He was a very active member for over 65 years in the Gardner Grange No. 68. He was a volunteer at Meadowbrook Rehabilitation Hospital for many years.
James enjoyed having morning coffee with “the guys” at the Downtowner and more recently Todd’s Diner. He will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Naoma.
James is survived by his daughters Linda Rothwell and husband Eldon and Lois Barber and husband Andy, both of Gardner; grandsons Max and Jim; step grandson Alex; and step great-grandson Gavin.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., April 19, 2014 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, (913)856-7111. Burial will follow at Gardner Cemetery.
