The lady Broncos built a 35-33 lead after three quarters and held on for an exciting 52-50 over rival Baldwin, January 17.
“The girls did a great job of playing team basketball,” said Coach Clay Frigon. They played hard even when Baldwin made its fourth quarter run, our defensive effort was good.”
Spring Hill held a 16-9 first quarter advantage thanks to balanced scoring from Lilly Smith , Sydney Cluck, Sydney Weaver, Annie Van Zant, Abigail Mikesell and Shelby Baker.
Mikesell had four of her nine points in the 2nd quarter as Spring Hill owned a 24-19 halftime advantage.
Baldwin bounced back with a 14-11 third quarter run before both teams played to a 17-17 fourth quarter tie.
Clucks clutch free throws with four seconds left in the game sealed the win. “Sydney connected on a lay-up, three point shot, and two free throws in the last minute of the game to seal the victory,” added Frigon.
Smith led the way with 11 points and Sydney Cluck added 10 points, seven in the fourth quarter. Mikesell and Shelby Baker had nine points, Van Zant had six points, Weaver had five and Jamie Hoffman, 2.
Now 4-5, Spring Hill gets back to action vs. Louisburg, January 22.
