Brett Wright scored a team high 19 points leading the Blazer varsity basketball squad to a 71-70 season opening win at Mill Valley, December 10.
GEHS trailed 18-15 after one quarter and 37-30 at halftime. The team rallied with 20 third quarter points and added 20 more in the final frame to escaped with a victory.
“I was real proud how we came out and competed early in the game,” said coach Jeff Langrehr. Mill Valley had already played a game and we were nervous early. It was nice to get a close win on the road in the season opener.”
Besides Wright, Traevohn Wrench added 15 points and Jake Beckner, nine points, Josh Lang and Kyle Hultgren, seven. Will Cook added six points.
Scoring two points apiece were Grant Howell, Jacob Haywood, Chad Enright and Sean Callahan.
