A website that allows users to map the future of Gardner and answer questions about how the city should grow is now live.
Created by consultants as part of the city’s comprehensive plan update, the site features surveys for residents and business owners and mapping capabilities. The comprehensive plan seeks to create a blueprint for future growth within the city, and the website is one way in city officials and consultants will seek input.
City council members approved drafting a new comprehensive plan that will guide the city for the next 20 years.
According to the website, the plan will result in a set of policies that direct future growth and development.
“Additionally, the creation of a plan can lead to potential strategies that will help effectively guide city leaders with making substantive and thoughtful decisions for the community,” it reads.
Interactive maps and feedback submitted by residents via the website will be used in drafting the plan.
The planning process will be an almost-yearlong event including community meetings, committee meetings and council discussion. Initial phases of the project began in October with committee meetings and community and business workshops. Officials anticipate the plan will be completed in late summer or early fall of 2014.
Additional workshops and other information about the comprehensive planning process are available on the website at
The site can also be accessed through a link on the city’s website.
