Dorothy Evelyn McKean, 88, of Gardner, passed away Nov. 30, 2013 at Kansas City Hospice House.
Dorothy was born Dec. 9, 1924 in Nortonville, Kan. to Cecil Raymond and Ethyl Faye (Green) Perkins. She grew up in Iola where she graduated from high school.
Dorothy married William Frederick McKean on Oct. 16, 1943 in Iola, Kan. Together they lived in Fort Scott from 1968 through 1973 and then they moved to Edwardsville in 1973 and to the Gardner area in 1984.
She was a homemaker and worked in the Conestoga Estates Mobile Home Office until her retirement in 1997.
Dorothy and her husband Bill were charter members of Grace Baptist Church 14 years ago. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and grandson Darren.
Survivors include her husband, Bill, of the home; daughter, Patricia Louise and husband Kenneth Bishop, of Garland, Texas; sons, John Raymond and wife Sandra McKean, of Drexel, Mo. and James William and wife Rhonda McKean, of Olathe, Kan.; sister, Betty Crouch and husband L. C., of Topeka, Kan.; seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Dec. 4, 2013 at Grace Baptist Church, 650 E Madison, Gardner, KS. Burial follows at Gardner Cemetery. Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m., prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church or Gideon Bible Society.
