Placing its offense in high gear, the Gardner Edgerton High School boys varsity soccer squad posted a convincing 8-1 home win against Wyandotte High School, Oct. 1st.
In its first match-up, GEHS wasted little time notching the scoring column.
GEHS  held a 3-0 halftime lead thanks to goals from Dakota Steuber, a Kalyn Ahrens scissor kick on a half volley, and a Luke Fisher goal.
GEHS added five more second half goals. Fisher scored on a penalty kick, Conner Epstrongs’ shot was deflected in by a Wyandotte player.
Moises Suarez scored his first varsity goal. Carson Harding netted a free kick and Sam Mayeske closed the rout with his first varsity goal.
Meanwhile, goalie Cole Byers held Wyandotte scoreless until five minutes left in the game.
“Numerous players figured in the victory and I was real pleased with the effort,” said coach Andy Weber.
