The Blazer softball squad celebrated Senior night April 30 splitting a home double header against De Soto.
After a tough 10-9 loss to De Soto in the opener, the Blazers rallied for an exciting 8-7 win in the nightcap.
In game two, GEHS got back to back second inning homeruns from Kiana Baderdeen and Haley McGuire. The lead was shortlived as GEHS still needed a seventh inning rally to win.
Trailing 7-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Blazers went to work. Baderden and McGuire singled and Tara Dodson hit her second homerun of the game to forge a 7-7 tie. Lauren Miller walked and scored on a mis-played fly ball from Britanee Willard.
Seniors playing their final home game were Jackie Sylva (Headed to Air Force), Willard (Park University), Mackenzie Skeens (JCCC), L’orien Pacheco (Allen County), Shelby Kaberline (Ft. Scott) and Tara Dodson (Ft. Scott).
“I am so proud to have coached this talented group of seniors, ” said Coach Joanne Calvin. They will be missed.”
