The Second District General Federation of Women’s Club (GFWC) had their annual Fine Arts Festival Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the Gardner Senior Center.  One hundred seventy-nine entries from three high schools: Gardner-Edgerton, Paola and Osawatomie competed.  The student earning Best of Show and $50.00 was Matt McSpaden, Junior, Gardner-Edgerton High School with his Charcoal Chalk Drawing titled Tiger.  All blue ribbon entries will go on to the GFWC State Convention April 12-13, 2013 in Wichita, Kansas for the State completion.
The public was invited to view the artwork from NOON to 1:30pm and many students and adults stopped by the Center.  Chairing the Art Festival was Marilyn Rockel, President, Gardner GFWC Cyber-Sunflowers.  She was assisted by Loretta Gallagher, Second District GFWC President and Linda Loyd, Gardner GFWC Athena Club Art Chairman.
