Tory Roberts
Guest Columnist
My name is TORY Roberts and I am a candidate for the Gardner City Council on April 2.
I am currently the chairman of the Gardner Planning Commission and a member of the Gardner Board of Zoning Appeals.
I have attended all of the City Council meetings for more than four years.
I am an active member and officer in the Gardner Lions Club, board member and officer for the Gardner Festival on the Trails, charter member of the Gardner Chapter of PEO, member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary at Gardner  unit 19.
I am a nine-year Gardner resident and I have worked in the Gardner area at Stouse, Inc. since 1995.
Gardner has given me a great place to live, work and play and I am eager, energetic and dedicated to give back to this community.
As a candidate for the Gardner City Council, I feel I can bring fresh ideas and energy blended with the traditional values that we all enjoy as Gardner residents.
Any city who wishes to continue to embrace small town ideas faces the challenges that must be met to provide better services to all residents.  Our  pride in our city through promoting volunteerism, raising awareness of Gardner’s needs, values and attributes will help our citizens realize Gardner’s unique advantages.
I will diligently attend and be prepared for all Gardner City Council meetings.
I  feel that I have an advantage since I have attended the city council meetings, work sessions and budget meetings for more than 4 years, more than any other City Council candidate. I am familiar with the issues and will hit the ground running.
As a Gardner City Council Member I would encourage the following:
•Re-examination of the Budget and the budget processes.
•Maximize the future growth of Gardner with well suited developments.
•Encourage more volunteerism from Gardner residents.
Just as I have pride in our city, I hope that my enthusiasm will reach other Gardner residents so their interest in Gardner will also grow.
A vote for me will bring a committed, interested, enthusiastic Gardner City Council Member.
After all, we all want what is best for Gardner and a vote for me on April 2 will allow me to be your voice to make that happen.  Any questions-please do not hesitate to contact me, as I welcome your thoughts and ideas; I am a listener and a doer.
