It took an overtime period but the Blazers brought back a 58-54 from Bishop Miege Feb. 22. The win left Gardner Edgerton High School with a 12-8 record heading into sub- state action at home Feb. 27.
GEHS jumped to a 12-10 first quarter lead but trailed 23-20 by halftime. GE outscored Miege 18-12 in the third quarter before Miege forced OT with 14 fourth quarter points. The Blazers took control in the extra period by a 9-5 advantage.
Junior Traevohn Wrench led the way with a team high 13 points while senior Kyle Huppe added 12 points. Josh Lang had 10, Kyle Hultgren had nine points and Matt Plank had eight. Dilon Dodson had four points and Kyle Hultgren and Brett Wright  had two points.
The Blazers host a first round 6A sub state game against Lawrence Free State Feb. 27, 7 pm .  A win would place the Blazers in a second round game against either Olathe East or Olathe Northwest.
