More than a dozen candidates for Gardmer city council, mayoral and USD 231 school board races will participate in a forum next week. Members of the public are invited to attend to learn more about the candidates.
The event will start at 6:15 p.m. on Feb. 21 in the multi-purpose room at New Century Fieldhouse. Following prepared remarks and a question-and-answer session, attendees can participate in a straw poll to vote for their favorite candidates.
The Gardner-Edgerton Republican Party is hosting the forum and will take a goodwill offering to offset costs of the event. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to a local women’s shelter.
Voters will have a second opportunity to get to know city council candidates on March 6. The Gardner Area Chamber of Commerce will host a council candidate forum that evening. The event is scheduled to take place at 6:30 p.m. on March 6 in the Gardner Edgerton High School auditorium.
Voters will select new council members, school board members and a mayor in the spring general election on April 2. The final day to register to vote in that election is March 12, and advance voting by mail begins the next day on March 13.
