In another close Eastern Kansas League battle, the Gardner Edgerton High School Blazer varsity basketball team escaped with a 44-43 win at Blue Valley North, Feb. 8.
GEHS trailed 8-6 after the first quarter but claimed a 20-1 8 lead at intermission.  North outscored the Blazers 13-11 in the third quarter but the Blazers sealed the win with 13  fourth quarter points.
Junior Traevohn Wrench led the scoring with 14 points while Kyle Huppe, Dilon Dodson and sophomore Josh Lang contributed six points. Ben Carpenter had five points . Brett Wright and Kyle Hultgren had two points.
Now 8-8, the Blazers travel to Blue Valley Feb. 12 and then host St. Thomas Aquinas  Feb. 15.
