Mayor Dave Drovetta will seek a second term.
He announced his intention to seek the position in a Jan. 6 press release. He has served as Gardner’s mayor since 2007, and served on the council for 15 years.
He will face council vice president Chris Morrow in the race. To date no other candidates have filed for the role. If more than three candidates file, there will be a primary election in February. Otherwise, the general election is April 2.
Also up for election this spring are two seats on the council – those currently held by appointees Kristina Harrison and Randy Gregorcyk. Tory Roberts announced her intent to run for an at-large seat on the council. Roberts currently serves as chair of the Gardner Planning Commission.
Additionally, voters will be asked to elect three members to the USD 231 school board. Shelta Collins and Mary Nelson will vie for position 4 on the board of education; Patty Fabing has filed for position 6 on the board; and Brett Limer, Rob Shippy and Joel Riggs will vie for position 5 on the board. In order for there to be a primary election for school board races, there must be more than three candidates for a particular position.
The filing deadline for spring elections is Jan. 22.
If needed primary elections will be Feb. 26. The last day to register for that election is Feb. 5.
The general election is set for April 2. March 12 is the last day to register to vote in that election.
