Lois Campbell

Lois W. Campbell, 84, passed away January 5, 2013, at her home in Gardner.  Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at the First Baptist Church of Gardner, 324 E Shawnee, Gardner, KS.  Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, KS.  Visitation will be from 6 – 8:00 pm Tuesday, January 8, 2013 also at the church.  Arrangements:  Bruce Funeral Home, 913-856-7111.  Memorial Contributions may be given to the First Baptist Church of Gardner.  Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com
Lois was born June 9, 1928 in Ottawa , KS to Clarence Edward and Maude (Mozley) Hazen.   She graduated from Ottawa High School in 1946.  Lois met the love of her life, H. “Frank” Campbell, in 1944 just before he entered the Navy.  She married Frank on May 1, 1949 in Ottawa.  They moved to Gardner in 1958 and lived a full life here.  She worked as a clerk for the Gardner Variety Store and in various office positions, including a bookkeeper for the Gardner lumber yard.  Lois, a polio survivor, lived a life of service.  She did numerous jobs for her church, the First Baptist Church of Gardner, such as Sunday School teacher, helped start Keenagers, and acted as the church’s financial secretary.   She served as a bookkeeper for the Community Coordinating Council in Gardner and won many awards for her service to the community.  She will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents.  Lois is survived by her husband of 63 years, Frank, of the home; children Linda (Sammy) Smith of Lenexa, KS, Richard (Linda) Campbell of Hutchinson, KS, and Carol (Calvin) King of Willow Park, TX; six grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and brothers Kenneth Hazen of Oklahoma City, OK and Norman (Betty) Hazen of Lawrence, KS.
