Winning all six of his matches, Spring Hill senior Corey Spader brought back first place honors in the 138 pound division of the Johnson County wrestling classic at Blue Valley high school Dec. 14-15.
Following a first round bye, Spader pinned his next three opponents. In bracket competition, Spader needed just 57 seconds to pin Trevor Watson of Blue Valley Southwest. In the semifinals he pinned Aaron Taylor of Shawnee Mission West. He then scored a 7-1 decision against Bryan Burnett of Mill Valley for first place. At tourneys end he was voted the outstanding senior wrestler.
“Corey continues to work real hard in practice and it is paying off,” said Coach Tucker Woofter. I have been real impressed with his attitude both on and off the mat. I am so proud he won first and was named the outstanding senior performer for the tourney.”
A third place award went to Tyler Crabtree in the 132 pound division. He posted a 6-1 record with three pins ,including a 5-1 decision over Grant Jongerius of Shawnee  Mission South in the third place match.
Blake Lewis finished fifth place at 145 pounds posting a 5-2 record with a pin and a 20-5 technical fall. He earned a hard fought 3-2 decision over Swedi Ntakirumana of Shawnee Mission West in the fifth place match.
Another fifth place finish went to Austin Pittman at 225 pounds. He went 4-2 and scored a 3-0 deicsion over Kyle Pepper of Blue Valley Southwest.
Teamwise, Spring Hill finished seventh in an elite 21 team field.  Blue Valey Southwest won the title with 231 points.
