Johnson County Fire District No.1 firefighters are still investigating the cause of a fire at Moonlight Apartments on Dec. 12.
Fire fighters responded to a two-alarm blaze at the apartment complex shortly after 8:30 p.m. When they arrived, they found an active fire on the back side of one of the buildings. By 9:21 p.m., the fire was under control, and it was out by 9:51 p.m., according to Fire Captain Patrick Hultman.
There was significant enough damage to displace residents of building 12, but no one was injured. Apartment officials insured that the residents had places to stay.
Hultman said as fires go, it was a good one.
“Nobody got hurt, and the fire went out,” he said.
The Olathe Fire Department, MedAct, and Johnson County Fire Districts No. 1 and No. 2, responded to the scene. It took 19 fire units and 40 firefighters, approximately 50 minutes to bring the fire under control. The buildings fire sprinkler system helped contain the fire.
