George S. Giefing, 77, of Edgerton, Kan., passed away Oct. 22, 2012 at Meadowbrook Rehabilitation Hospital, Gardner, Kan. 
George was born Sept. 13, 1935 in Kansas City, Mo. to George and Florence (Carpenter) Giefing.  He was a graduate of Central High School and JCCC. 
George married E. Sue Hodge on Feb. 7, 1959 in Kansas City, Kan.  They moved to Edgerton in 1976 from Kansas City, Mo. 
George was a machinist and owned his own shop in Edgerton.  He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserves. 
George was a big John Wayne fan. He loved his family and his work.  George will be dearly missed.
He was a member of Divine Mercy Catholic Church and Society of Manufacturing Engineers. 
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Charles. 
George is survived by his wife Sue, of the home; sons Paul Giefing, of Edgerton, Pete Giefing, of Phoenix, Ariz., and David Giefing, of Olathe, Kan.; brother John Giefing, of Grant, Iowa; and two grandchildren, Matthew and Zackary.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Oct. 26, 2012 at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 555 W Main, Gardner, KS.  Burial will follow at St. Columbine Catholic Cemetery, Edgerton.  Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., Friday, before the service at the church.  Arrangements:  Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS (913)856-7111.  Memorial Contributions may be given to Divine Mercy Building Fund or the American Heart Association.  Condolences may be left at
