Gardner-Edgerton’s losing streak now stands at three after a difficult 28-21 loss to a talented Blue Valley Northwest team last night.
The Blazers scored first on a 11-yard pass from Jared Hobby to Jamain Lang at the 7:38 mark of the first quarter.   After Northwest tied the score early in the second period, GE running back Traevohn Wrench went 83 yards to paydirt to put the Blazers back in front 13-7.
The Huskies answered that score and then aided by a fumble recovery, punched another touchdown in to take a 21-13 lead at the break.
GE scored the equalizer late in the third quarter on an 11-yard pass from Hobbe to JaylonRadel.
Aided by another costly Blazer fumble, Northwest scored the eventual winning touchdown early in the fourth stanza.
During the final ten minutes of the contest, GE had two forays deep into Husky territory but both came up empty as the team absorbed their third loss in four games.
“We got better tonight.  You hate to keep losing games by one score but when you fight and play hard you can build off that,” said head coach Marvin Diener after the contest.
The Blazers next action is home against Blue Valley West next Friday.
