Playing its best volleyball of the season, the Lady Blazers’  squad swept match play at Blue Valley Southwest Sept. 14.
In the opener, Gardner Edgerton High School made quick work of Bonner Springs by identical scores of 25-9, 25-9. Second round action saw the Blazers  defeat Spring Hill, 25-17, 25-13. The Blazers capped the night with a convincing 25-12, 25-18 win against homestanding Southwest.
Strong net play keyed the wins as senior Cassie Wait, Danie Plank and Hannah Bettge combined for 36 kills.  Junior  Michaela Serrioz recorded nine kills. Bettge had 38 sets on the night.
Consistent serving also played a part as every Blazer server had an ace. Mackenzie Skeens had seven aces, Bettge, five, and Mattie Deiner and Teddi Wade, three apiece.
