Playing its  best volleyball of the season, the Pioneer Ridge Middle School  seventh grade varsity volleyball team claimed third place honors in an eight team home invitational, Sept 15.
Featured in the eight-team field were Wheatridge Middle School, Turner, Mission Trail, Patton, Oregon Trail, Mill Creek, and Monticello.  Morning pool play determined afternoon bracket play.
Excellent team play helped Pioneer Ridge turn back Mission Trail (De Soto), Monticello Trails (De Soto), and Patton Middle School of Leavenworth.
In first round bracket play, the Jags pushed Oregon Trail of Olathe to the brink before bowing in two games. The Jags rebounded with a clutch match win against Monticello to earn third place.
Pioneer Ridge orchestrated a comeback in the second game against Monticello. Trailing 5-0 Pioneer went to work. Behind solid net play from Tara Land, Lauren Highfill, Taylor Carpenter, Lauren Misse,  and Macy Koetters, the Jags tied the game 7-7, went ahead 17-12 and then held on for an exciting 25-20 win.
Earning third place medals were Meghan Banka, Neili Pearson-Bruce, Taylor Carpenter, Kayla Haff, Lauren Highfill,  Macy Koetters, Tara Land, Lauren Misse,  Ashlyn Prom, Daisy Pinedo,  and Rachel Swopes.
