A 57-year-old Edgerton man has been arrested in connection with a murder that happened 32 years ago in Minneapolis, Minn.
Robert William Skogstad is a suspect in the 1980 stabbing death of 22-year-old Mary Steinhart.
He remains jailed in lieu of a $1 million bond.
According to the Minneapolis Police Department, Skogstad was linked to the crime via DNA evidence.
His DNA was stored in a national data base.
The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported that Skogstad had previously worked at Steinhart’s apartment building as a caretaker.
However, he was not believed to have been employed there at the time of the killing.
The Star Tribune also said Skogstad had previous convictions for burglary and sexual assault in California.
Skogstad had resided in Edgerton since about 2004, according to city records.
He lived in the 900 block of W. Fifth Street.
Skogstad is currently being held in the Johnson County Jail while awaiting extradition to Minneapolis.
