Dewey Molenda and Miranda Tenove paced the Blazer cross country teams to first place in the Blue Valley North Invitational on Sept. 8.
The Lady Blazers won first place with a low score of 35 points. Blue Valley North had 36 followed by SM West, Washington, Wyandotte and Sumner.
The  boys claimed the title with a low score of 35 points while Blue Valley north had 41 and SM West, 44.
“I  was real pleased with the performance,” said coach Larry Ward. We won both divisions for the second straight year and showed a lot of improvement.”
The days top performance belonged to Molenda who covered the 5K course in a first place time of 17:10 while Arron Scott finished fifth in 17:35. Omar Quintana took sixth in 17:50 and Justin Wilde took 10th in 18:12. Tim Ward showed a lot of improvement with a 13th place time of 18:19 and Tim Visos-Ely claimed 16th in 19:15. Raymond Carey finished 20th in 19:52.
In the girls division, Tenove finished 2nd place in a 4K time of 16:58 while McKenzie Scroggin took third in 17:15. Aly Daniels finished fourth in 17:26 and Katie Groshong was seventh in 17:46. Sierra Coen was eighth in 17:57.
The season continued Sept. 12 at the Turner Invitational.
