“Punky” Marley

Lowell Gene “Punky” Marley, 81, formerly of Gardner,Kan., passed away peacefully Sept. 1, 2012 at his home inPeoria,Ariz.surrounded by most of his family after a short but courageous battle with cancer. 
Punky was born in Gardner, to Walton Howard and Betha Mae (Swearingen) Marley.  He served in the U.S. Naval Reserves. 
Lowellmarried Sylvia Charlene Masoner on Nov. 21, 1951 inLexington,Mo. 
He co-owned and operated Knabe – Marley Skelly Station in Gardner for 30 years.  He restored and dealt in classic Thunderbirds. 
They lived in Gardnerand moved toPeoria in 1992 when they retired. 
Punky served as a volunteer Fireman for the Gardner Fire Department.  He was a member of Gardner Presbyterian Church, the Gardner Masonic Lodge #65, and the T-Bird Club and he also served on the Gardner City Council.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Sheryl Ann Lerner and his grandson Brandon Michael Clifton. 
Punky is survived by his wife Charlene, of the home; daughter Jo Highfill and husband Biff of Spring Hill, Kan.; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m., Sept. 15, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church, 138 E Shawnee, Gardner, KS.  Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. before the service at the church.  Private family inurnment will be in GardnerCemeteryat a later date.  Arrangements:  Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS(913)856-7111.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E Flower St., Phoenix, AZ85014.  Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com.
