Drivers should expect major delays on Interstate 35 northbound at the 119th exit.
Kansas Department of Transportation workers will reduce traffic near the interchange to two lanes beginning at 8 p.m. on Aug. 3. The lanes will be shuttered around the clock while pavement work on phase one of the Johnson County Gateway project begins. Officials anticipate re-opening all three lanes on Sept.3
In the meantime, the northbound ramp from I-35 to 119th Street will be reduced to one lane starting at 8 p.m. on Aug. 2. Ramp lanes will re-open on Nov. 4.
Advance message boards will alert drivers to lane and ramp closures at the I-35/119th Street interchange. Major delays are expected during peak morning and evening commutes.
