Max LeRoy Howell, 64, of Gardner, Kan. passed away July 6, 2012.
Max was born July 24, 1947 in Mankato, Kan. to Reynold LeRoy and Juanita (Mallory) Howell. He grew up in Gardner and attended Gardner High School.
Max married Verna Kerr in 1972 in Olathe, Kan. He was a Plant Mechanic for Danisco/DuPont at New Century, KS from 1980 until his early retirement due to illness in 2002.
Max loved his family, enjoyed his friends at the coffee shop and doing small motor repair. He was an avid fisherman at Olathe Lake, Gardner Lake and Hillsdale Lake and was always tinkering. He will be missed by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Verna, of the home; children Keith LeRoy and wife Marta Howell, and Amelia Walker, all of Gardner; brother, Mike and wife Janet Wheeler Howell, Pomona, Kan.; ten grandchildren; in-laws: Daryl and Debbie Kerr, Leon and Myra Kerr, Pam and Dave Harrington, Barry Gribble and their families.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., July 9, 2012 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS (913) 856-7111. Burial follows at Gardner Cemetery. Visitation was held July 8, 2012 at the funeral home. Family requests casual attire to all services. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Cardiology Services at Olathe Medical Center.
