With just two league games remaining, the Gardner Ice 14-under softball team holds an impressive 9-3 record in the Olathe Girls Softball Association League.
The team has a 8-4-1 mark in 3 tournaments, including a first place finish at the recent lee’s Summit, Mo torney. The team returns to Lee’s Summit the weekend of July 7 to participate in the Metro torney.
“We’ve hit the ball well all year and played great defense,” said coach Steve Adamson. “Our pitching has been so consistent.”
Pitching is always the Key and Adamson has solid performers in Chelsie Gilner, Tori Hill, Hailey Drawbaugh, Jaclyn Adamson, and Abbey Bilhimer.
Handling the catching duties have been Bethany Schultz and Kendra Rogers.
Solid infield play has come from Becca Grass, Sara Coble, Abby Weems and top outfielders are Bethany Hargis, and Sarah Gilner.
Adamson had help from assistants coaches Dave Johnson and Dean Gilner, Nicole Johnson has handled the managerial duties for the second straight season.
