Mary Josephine Wonsetler-Cauthon, 73, of Carrollton, Mo. died May 31, 2012 at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond, Mo.
Mary Jo was born July 23, 1938 in Kansas City, Mo. to Robert and Willinda (Taylor) Wendel. She married James R. Cauthon, Jr., of Carrollton, Mo. on January 14, 2000; he survives of the home.
Mary Jo was a robot operator for the GM Delco-Remy Battery Plant in Olathe, an. for 25 years before retiring in 1999.
She was a member of the U.A.W. Union Local # 1021 in Olathe, Kan. and the N.R.A. Mary Jo attended William Jewell College. She was a member of the St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Olathe, Kan.
In addition to her parents, Mary Jo was preceded in death by one great- granddaughter, Ashlynn Mae Martin.
Additional survivors include sons, James Smith, Jr. and his wife, Janet of Kingwood, Texas and Terry Smith of Paola, Kan.; two daughters, Tammara Colbert and her husband, Scott of Olathe, Kan. and Donna Priest and her husband, Richard of Olathe, Kan.; brothers, Clarence Wonsetler and his wife, Marion of Paolo, Kan., Charles Wendel and his wife, Kathy of Grinnell, Iowa, Wayne Wendel and his wife, Mary Ann and Eddie Wendel and his wife, Maria all of Pensacola, Fla.; step-sons, Dr. John Cauthon and his wife, Sonja of Murfreesboro, Tenn. and Kevin Cauthon of Kansas City, Mo.; step-daughters, Dawn Wilkerson and her husband, Aaron of Independence, Mo. and Aaron Cauthon of Independence, Mo.; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and nine step-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held June 4, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Edgerton Cemetery. Visitation will be held June 3, 2012 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, Mo. The family would like to thank the employee’s at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and the Vitas Hospice for the care given to their loved one for the past two and a half years. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Kansas City.
