Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies assisted Kansas Department of Revenue agents in seizing an Olathe business this morning.
Officials shuttered 4 Wheels & A Motor, located at 1919 E. Spruce, for delinquent taxes. The car rental, sales and repair businesses owed $41,931 in state sales, withholding and income taxes.
On May 9, officers seized all business assets including bank accounts, on-site cash, and personal property assets of the owner, Richard L. Woodward.
The assets will be sold at public auction to pay back taxes.
State officials, in a press release, said they do not execute tax warrants until all other collection attempts, including multiple letters, telephone calls, letters of impending action, and filing of tax liens to secure debt, have been exhausted.
KDOR’s standard practice is to continually encourage delinquent taxpayers to voluntarily enter into a repayment agreement.
