Patrick Eugene Sharon, 75, of Olathe, Kan. passed away April 20, 2012 at Olathe Medical Center.
Patrick was born Oct. 3, 1936 in Edgerton, Kan. to Eugene S. and Mary Ann (Eisenmans) Sharon. He grew up in Edgerton and graduated from Edgerton High School as an exemplary athlete in basketball.
Patrick married Diana Lee Riley on April 13, 1956 in Baldwin City, Kan. They have lived in Olathe for 55 years.
He worked as a Local Union #576 meat cutter for 42 years, serving the Olathe community, retiring in 1999.
He attended Kansas University on a full ride scholarship as a Jayhawk Basketball player. He believed in learning.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church and actively involved in the Catholic Youth Organization.
Patrick loved old cars, especially his Model A. He was always tinkering. Patrick loved his family and attended all their activities. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter Christina Lee.
Patrick is survived by his wife, Diana, of the home; daughters Debra Giudicessi of Olathe, Pamela Wildermuth of Santa Monica, Calif., Janet Perry and Mark of Platte City, Mo. and Shelia Kauffman and Russell of Avon, Ohio; son Patrick Sharon, II and Jeannine of Overland Park, Kan.; brother Michael H. Sharon, of Kansas City, Kan.; mother-in-law Margaret Riley of Olathe; 20 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; six nephews and nieces.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., April 25, 2012 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 900 S Honeysuckle Dr., Olathe, KS. Burial follows at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Olathe. A Rosary will be said at 5 p.m., April 24, 2012 with visitation following until 8 p.m. at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS, (913) 856-7111.
