Kansas Democrats are gearing up for its Presidential Preference Caucus this weekend.
Registration for the caucuses begins at 1 p.m. on April 14 and meetings will start at 2 p.m. at a variety of locations across the state.
Gardner and Edgerton Democrats will caucus at Frontier Trail Junior High School, 15300 W. 143rd St., in Olathe. Spring Hill Democrats in Johnson County also caucus at Frontier Trail, while Spring Hill Democrats residing in Miami County will caucus at Osawatomie High School.
“We are excited about this year’s caucus and the opportunity it provides to bring Democrats together and jump start the 2012 elections,” said Joan Wagnon, Chair of the Kansas Democratic Party. “President Obama’s consistent leadership has proven that he shares Kansans’ commitment to education, opportunity, and responsibility.”
Participation in Kansas’s delegate selection process is open to any registered Democrat who will be 18 years old by Nov. 6, 2012. Voters must be registered as a Democrat at their current address. Individuals not registered as Democrats may register at the caucus.
“Our caucus will allow Kansas Democrats to stand up and express their belief in our president and their belief in our shared values of good schools, good jobs, and a fair system,” Wagnon said.
