Velma Mae Boan, 82, of Spring Hill, Kan., went home to be with her Heavenly Father on April 8, 2012 at Golden Living Nursing Center.
Velma was born March 13, 1930 in Montreal, Mo. to Miles and Amy (Brown) Hammer.
Velma married Calvin Clifford Boan on Feb. 12, 1948 in Kansas City, Mo. They lived in Merriam, Kan. and moved to Spring Hill in 1969.
Velma sold Avon products. She attended Life Spring Church in Spring Hill.
Velma was active in the Spring Hill Farmers Market, selling her vegetables. She was a great cook. Velma was a very kind person to all. She loved being with her family and will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Aileen and daughter-in-law Leesa Boan.
Velma is survived by her husband Calvin, of the home; children Floyd Boan and Fonda of Kansas City, Kan., Bruce Boan of Shawnee, Kan., Jerry Boan and Debbie and Philip Boan and Debbie. all of Spring Hill; sister Marie Looney of Lebannon, Mo.; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., April 12, 2012 at the Life Springs Church, 206 N Webster, Spring Hill, KS. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., April 11, 2012 at the Bruce Funeral Home, 712 S Webster, Spring Hill, KS, (913) 592-2244. Memorial Contributions may be made to Life Spring Church.
